Since 1972, we have stood for trendy fashion, joie de vivre, and unique eyewear design, and we haven't lost any momentum. While production techniques have continually improved, our very personal atmosphere at the company headquarters – a charming residential house in a prime location at the foot of the Black Forest – has remained unchanged. From here, we have been making national and international fashion history for over 50 years.

  • 1972

    The company was founded by Marion Ramm, the namesake and founder, along with her 23-year-old daughter "Anneke," who is now the Managing Director.

  • Initially, the clientele consisted of fashion boutiques and perfumeries that were enthusiastic about extraordinary sunglasses.

  • At a fashion fair in Nice, Marion Ramm discovered the young design talent "Alain Mikli," who would go on to have a famously successful career.

  • 1977

    Son "Klaus Peter" joined the company, and the GmbH was established.

    The first corrective frames were added to the collection.

  • Ende der 70er

    Marion Ramm is the first company to offer metal sunglasses with rhinestones on the lenses. Production in Germany can barely keep up with the enormous demand.

  • in den 80ern

    There is a significant trend shift in eyewear transforming them "from mere visual aids to fashionable accessories." This marks the beginning for Marion Ramm to shape this segment with her affinity for fashion.

  • Anfang der 90er

    Marion Ramm retires from active professional life, and the company is handed over to her two children to continue in her spirit.

  • 2012

    Klaus Peter Ramm retires from the Management Board. In the same year, the third generation joins the company: Cathrin Mordelt, the daughter of Anneke Ramm-Mordelt.

  • 2015

    Cathrin Mordelt launches the now very successful young fashion label “Black Forest”.

  • 2020

    The BLACK FOREST brand is applied to the entire product range.

  • 2021

    Cathrin Mordelt is appointed to the Management Board.

  • 2022

    Marion Ramm celebrates its 50th anniversary and has prepared interesting promotions for its customers, such as rewards for volunteer work.

Our product range extends from plastic frames, stainless steel frames, titanium frames, to half-glasses, elegant jewelry glasses, classic glasses, and trendy and sporty sunglasses. 

Customers looking for exclusive high-end material combinations of carbon, wood, and titanium will find what they are looking for with us.

A very personal company atmosphere, along with our industry-renowned customer service, makes us a successful family business and employer.

We employ creative heroes who enjoy eyewear design as much as we do.

In addition to our successful field service, we have also created our own digital business card with an online store and a mobile-optimized website.

The spirit of the times sets the tone with us – sustainability and social commitment are constant companions at Marion Ramm. All promotional materials are made in Europe, mostly in Germany.

Wooden promotional items are produced near Freiburg by a non-profit organization, and packaging materials are progressively replaced with recyclable ones.

Since our founding in 1972, we have proudly and diligently followed our family tradition. Our company has been in family ownership for three generations and continues to be managed by the third generation. This long-standing bond and the continuous transfer of experience and expertise defines us and is reflected in our corporate philosophy.
